A Roang Forest Trek

Nestled in the Truong Son Mountain Range, A Luoi is about 70km south of Hue city and home to the Pa Co and Ta Oi minority groups, which have preserved a traditional legend in Vietnam for transporting materials south during the war with America. Best known for its famous historical landmark from the American War, Hamburger Hill, A Luoi has many exciting and unique sites and activities to offer.

You can learn about the way of life of the Ta Oi and Pa Ko people; go trekking in forests home to the recently discovered Saola, and many other unique species; walk in the footsteps of those in the American war... Discover A Luoi in One Day, One Night and One Adventure!

DAY 1: HUE - A LUOI - A HUA HAMLET - HAMBURGER HILL

7AM: Leave Hue for A Luoi District.

9.30AM: You will arrive at A Luoi where a local A Hua guide will pick you up to firstly visit the Bureau of Industry and Trade of A Luoi District. You will then trek through the forest to visit A Bia Hill (Hamburger Hill) - home to the famous battle in 1969. On the way, local guides will introduce the kinds of the flora and the fauna of the area. You will have lunch on the hill, then at 2PM you will return to the traditional communal house - where the local people organise their festivals.

3PM: Take a trip to see the A Hua hamlet. You will be introduced to the traditional communal houses, visiting some households participating in Zeng weaving - a famous product of the area. Also here you will witness the garden houses and learn how to distil wine from the Doat tree.

6PM: you will have dinner at the traditional communal house, enjoying the musical performance with gongs and unique musical instruments of Ta Oi Ethnic minorities. Overnight stay at the traditional communal house.

DAY 2: A HUA HAMLET (NHAM COMMUNE) - A ROANG NATURE RESERVE - A MIN HAMLET (A ROANG COMMUNE) - HUE

6.30AM: Have breakfast at A Hua hamlet.

7.30AM: Leave A Hua (you could leave at 6.30AM and have breakfast at A Luoi town if you wish). Go along the Ho Chi Minh route from A Luoi to A Roang. On the way, you visit A Shau airbase at Dong Son Commune and the dioxin infected area.

8.45AM: the local guide of A Min hamlet picks up you at the people's committee of A Roang. 9AM: visit tunnel No. 1 on the Ho Chi Minh route. From the tunnel, you will trek through the forest to visit A Roang Valley to witness the Truong Son forest's ecosystem. On the way, the local guide will introduce kinds of the flora and the fauna of the area. Have lunch en route in the forest.

3PM: head back to A Min's traditional communal house & see the A Mim Hamlet. Here you will learn more about the traditional communal houses, traditional handicrafts, and enjoy the traditional musical performances.

4.30PM we will head back to Hue to conclude the tour.

Included: Overnight stay at communal house, English or French speaking guide, local guide, A/C private car with driver, 1 breakfast, 2 lunches, 1 dinner, cold water and towel during tour.
